All-in-one terminal: one hardware platform, a different screen and a different app make a different terminal
Price checkers, self-service query kiosks, queue ticket machines, visitor registration terminals and ordering kiosks share the same hardware skeleton: touchscreen, mainboard, area-imaging scan engine, housing and stand. They differ in screen size, peripheral modules and software. This page explains what else the platform can become, and when to choose a price checker instead of another form factor.
Six terminals from one platform
| Terminal type | Typical mounting position | Key peripherals | Recommended base model |
|---|---|---|---|
| Price checkers | Shelves, aisles, service desk | Area-imaging scan engine, printer (optional) | XT802C / XT802D / XT802E |
| Self-service query kiosk | Lobbies, floors, entrances | ID card module, NFC, card reader | XTCM215 / XTCM320 |
| Queue ticket machine | Hospitals, government halls, service branches | 80mm printer, scanning | XTCM320 |
| Visitor registration terminal | Campus lobbies, reception desks | ID card module, camera, printing | XTCM215 (modules added) |
| Ordering kiosk, menu screen | Restaurants, canteens | Scanning, printing, card payment | XT802F / XTCM215 |
| Industrial workstation terminal | Production line stations | Industrial scan engine, I/O, serial port | Per project (industrial scanner line) |
When a price checker fits and when it does not
Good fit for a price checker
- The core action is scan, then read: no payment involved
- Many units spread across many positions, with per-unit cost that has to stay controlled
- The store already runs a POS and item system and only lacks a customer-facing entry point
- Needs to stay powered for long hours without staff attention
Not a fit for a price checker
- Takes payment, gives change, prints receipts: self-checkout kiosk
- Reads ID cards and issues documents on the spot: government self-service terminal, which needs dedicated modules and security design
- Needs washdown and operation at -20°C: industrial model
- Only shows ads and needs no interaction: digital signage
About the platform and customization
Can you build a full unit under our brand?
Yes. Housing color, silk-screen printing, boot screen, packaging and brand information inside the system can all be changed. Tooling and certification costs are quoted per project; please contact sales for the minimum order quantity.
Can it run our own app?
On Android you can install your APK directly and set it to launch on boot; the Windows version deploys like an ordinary PC. Scan data can reach your application over a serial port, USB keyboard emulation or a network interface; we agree the protocol at project kickoff.
Can the housing be something other than wall-mounted?
The 802 series supports the Z-shaped stand and VESA hole pattern, so wall, post and arm mounts are available; the 21.5 and 32-inch models ship with a wall bracket and offer a floor stand. Fully custom structures need tooling and are quoted per project.
Non-standard requirement? Describe the use case
Tell us where it will be mounted, what the customer needs to do and which peripherals are on site, and we will say whether a standard unit is enough or the structure needs changing.
